Phase One & Phase Two Development

Avalon's development has the option of building in two phases, or both phases at once depending on the timing of funding. The first phase involves renovating the historic lodge and the main pools area.  Ten of the historic cabins  are being renovated to be the wellness/massage treatment rooms.  A reception building and spa entry building are new construction, and lush landscaping is being implemented in phases with the appropriate seasons.  Phase One guestrooms in and around the hot springs include 17 earthen cottages or eco-cabins, 15 tent cabins with redwood view decks, and 9 family yurts.

Phase Two development centers around the upper site, a plateau with with stunning panoramic views a short walk from the hot springs on the lower site.  The plateau will be home to several workshop and event spaces of varying sizes including an amphitheatre, conversation paths and gardens, and fitness and hiking trails. A circle of six large yurts provide an intimate space for small groups and workshops, while 10 duplex eco-cabins and 13 tent cabins will enjoy the sweeping views from their redwood decks.  A large landscaped warm conversation pool will grace the site, along with a guest services center complete with snack cabana, concierge, and information on guest activities.

Facilities Details

The lodge, set among ornamental streams, ponds, and gardens, offers the restaurant and dining area, with patios overlooking the gardens, as well as a luxurious place for guests to arrive and begin to unwind from the world at large.

The hot springs spa offers a variety of bathing opportunities, from warm soaking tubs of various sizes and mineral components, to the naturally effervescent warm foot-bath spring, to the invigorating hot and cold plunges.  Various times and places for private bathing, women’s only bathing, and family-friendly spaces provide varied opportunities to enjoy the healing waters.  Our hot spring waters are chemical free.

A healing spa center provides indoor and outdoor spaces for massage, nutritional consultation, and other healing modalities.  Two aquatic therapy pools provide idyllic environments for specialized therapeutic bodywork received while floating in body-temperature spring water.

Workshop and conference spaces include larger group rooms for 50-100 people, and smaller spaces to accommodate groups of 30 people and under.  Inspiring educational content that emerges at Avalon Springs is captured via video and audio media, to be shared with the world online.  This educational aspect is anchored by a related non-profit component that works closely with the for-profit resort.

The learning eco-village across the street will be operated under the guidance of Avalon's non-profit, and will provide live-in experiential educational experiences in the 30-home ecovillage setting, surrounded with food-producing gardens that serve both the resort and learning village.
